First Step Nicaragua

We believe God has called us to begin our ministry in Nicaragua, a Central American country historically devastated by war and currently impacted by civil unrest.

With the support of like-minded believers and local contacts we launched our first outreach team to La Chureca, the largest city dump in Central America, inhabited by more than 1000 poverty-stricken people. It was our intent to contact local families and assess the scope of our work and establish long- term relationships through a food distribution ministry. In addition, using local contacts we sought to register Paloma Foundation as an outside non-profit, (a government requirement), so we could avoid extreme tariffs on any donations we bring into the country.

Our team was successful in providing a month’s supply of food to 100 families and beginning a work that we expect will lead to fruitful relationships. We scheduled return trips to continue the food distribution ministry continues uninterrupted, believing this will help expand our work in building leadership in the children through education and overall support for growth. Our trip was however interrupted by civil unrest in the country.

God Multiplies Gifts

The Paloma Foundation raised $1,300 and went on its first mission trip to Nicaragua within the first two weeks of existense in April 2018 while the country was under civil unrest.  The team used those funds to deliver and provide basic food and grooming needs to 100 needy famlies. Your gift goes to on-the-ground missions, directly impacting communities in dire need of relief.

Faith Overcomes Fear

On our final scheduled day at La Chureca, our team received word that a protest of government policies had escalated into rioting, shutting down access to the capitol and other major cities. As a result, our team had to retreat to the interior of the country for several days until it was safe to exit back to the states.

We were unable to register as a foreign non-profit but instead took advantage of the
opportunity to build a plan with our contacts to reach out to like-minded, local faith-based organizations seeking to provide humanitarian aide to those impacted by the unrest.

Next Steps

Until the violence rampant throughout the country subsides our mission will be amended so we may continue to provide necessary essentials to our target population devastated by yet another possible civil war. Local churches have agreed to gather food and medication to distribute to the poor, isolated by the violence. We are asking you to join us in this effort by donating directly to this effort. You may contact us with your gift or donate online.
